Winstona Cole

Chairperson

I am an Attorney I have lived in the United States for over twenty years. I am originally from Sierra Leone. I am married with two children. In my work as an attorney, I specialized in U. S. Immigration and Nationality Law. I have been representing victims of persecution for the past sixteen years. I understand the trauma associated with being a victim of persecution from listening to the many stories of clients I have represented and continue to represent. When I heard about the creation of Voice of Christians, Inc., I knew I could bring my knowledge and insight as a lawyer into the organization and make a difference in the lives of those suffering persecution. Most importantly, I knew I had the understanding, the sympathy and the empathy that is needed to help. As VOC seeks to help by providing rescue, refuge, and renewal, I want to be a part of such a ministry and provide all the skills that God has given to me to render assistance. My guiding scripture for my work as an attorney is Proverbs 31:8-9; “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously and plead the cause of the poor and the needy.” That is what I plan to do as a member of VOC.

Elizabeth Rogers

Administrative Assistant

My name is Elizabeth Rogers.  I am a homemaker, wife, mother of three children, and grandmother of four.  I am a volunteer working with people from many countries, helping them with their English and other needs. I find this work very rewarding and it is a great joy to me.

I grew up going to church on Sundays but sadly my church did not teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a result of this, I had a terrifying fear of death from a young age. I wondered if I was good enough to earn God’s favor and would He let me into His heaven when I died? Was I good enough? At the age of 31, I heard the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time. It was then that I finally understood that I could never do enough good to get rid of my sin but that Jesus Christ loved me and gave Himself for me. He died and paid the penalty for my sin. I joyfully received Him as my Lord and Savior! My life is now lived out of thankfulness for what Jesus has done for me. Because Jesus loved me first I am free to love others with His love. He has given me His love for those who have yet to hear His life-changing good news!

I have chosen to be part of the VOC ministry because of Christ’s love for those who are experiencing hardship due to their decision to follow Christ. He has given me compassion for the suffering and has aligned my life with other like-minded believers as we work together to help them. I trust Him to use VOC for their good and for His glory. God is faithful!

Paul Simpson

Treasurer and Finance Director

I am originally from Canada living in the United States as a permanent resident and am married to a wonderful woman who I met at University.  We have a 10-year-old daughter and enjoy living in North Carolina.  I work as a Strategy Manager at a major US Bank where my primary roles are in Data Management and Modeling Data Support.

While attending an evangelical church in North Carolina, I met Kaleem Javed in 2010 and discovered that he had only recently arrived in the U.S. after fleeing persecution in his homeland because of his conversion to Christianity.  We became friends and have met for prayer and bible study for several years.  Through Kaleem’s experience and examples of other people that Kaleem has helped in similar situations, I could see the need to Rescue, offer Refuge and Replenish other Christians who are being persecuted for their faith.  When Voice of Christians was started to help meet these needs, I was eager to get involved and offer my services.

Kaleem Javed

Founder, Operations Director

I live in the beautiful state of North Carolina and am married to my soulmate, Ramona. Together we are raising four beautiful children. I work in the construction industry. My wife and I strongly believe that service to our Savior God comes before anything else and we have dedicated ourselves to follow God’s plan for our lives. Today, my passion is to awaken the church to live a completely abandoned life for Christ and to help and encourage believers under persecution.

My family and I are immigrants to the United States and were granted asylum on the basis of religious persecution.  Through my very own experience of facing religious persecution, I have learned what it takes to survive and how it feels in the aftermath of the trauma. God has blessed me with a clear and very great burden to serve persecuted individuals and I have devoted my life to follow that call. My prayer and goal are that VOC will not only help the persecuted but will also work with existing organizations and institutions in reaching out to the persecuted.

Aleem Javed

Media & Communications Director

I work in the I.T. field.  My life experience has taught me a great deal about the plight of the persecuted and given me a passion for serving such. My prayer and wish for serving through VOC is that this ministry will be able to touch many lives and share the true love of God.
