Will Persecution Revive Our First Love in the Church?

Please help rescue Zamir and his family

Contributed by Voice Of Christians Admin

God’s Promise

Galatians 6:2   “Carry each other’s burdens and so you will fulfil the law of Christ.”

VOC’s Prayer

Romans 8:35-37

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Why we need your prayers and generous support

As the ministry of Voice of Christians continues to grow, we have a growing number of calls, emails and texts requesting help for our persecuted brothers and sisters.  Most of the stories are heartbreaking and often need immediate prayer and attention. I will share one of those many stories of one extremely persecuted and needy family.

Zamir found Christ many years ago when he was serving in the Afghan National Army. Soon after finding Christ, he was able to share Christ’s grace and love with his wife who also gave her life to Christ. Zamir served as a medic with an elite Afghan counter-terrorism strike team that partnered with the US Army. Zamir was recommended for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) that would enable him and his family to come to emigrate to the United States. This commendation speaks highly of his patriotism and faithful service to the US Army and its members. Unfortunately, this could not be processed in time to protect Zamir and his family before the fall of Kabul last year.

The Taliban consider all those who served the previous Afghan regime (including anyone working with the US military) worthy of death. Zamir has cousins who are Taliban, and they were able to kill his father and brother, but Zamir was able to escape to Iran with his wife and three young children three months ago. Recently, Zamir’s extended family and his in-laws discovered where they were hiding in Iran. Thus, they are on the move constantly trying to find safe places (outdoors) to sleep at night with their small children. Because Zamir’s wife also served a short time as a medic, they have vowed to kill the whole family. We cannot imagine this type of terror. This family is homeless and hopeless. They are desperately seeking help from the church. Please see attached photos sent from our VOC field worker. This is just one of many stories of the persecuted that VOC helps.

What we are planning to do

VOC has provided immediate aid to Zamir’s family as we continue to evaluate how to help them get out of Iran and relocate to Turkey to become refugees. In order to accomplish this, VOC needs $7,500 to pay for their travel needs. As a family of five this situation needs significant planning and very strategic arrangements to relocate them safely to Turkey. In addition to the $7,500 initial cost, an estimated $2,500 is needed for three months of expenses which will include renting and furnishing an apartment, paying for legal aid, clothing, food, etc.
